Fourth grade is such a fun and exciting school year! In the classroom, students will learn and work together to grow as learners.
The eight Standards for Mathematical Practice are an important component of the mathematics standards for each grade and course, K-12. The Standards for Mathematical Practice describe the varieties of expertise, habits of minds, and productive dispositions that educators seek to develop in all students. In math, students make sense of problems and persevere in solving them; reason abstractly and quantitatively; construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others; model with mathematics; use appropriate tools strategically; attend to precision; look for and make use of structure; look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.
Science is also a favorite for many students. In science, students develop understandings about the scientific inquiry and the ability to conduct inquiry. They will understand that all living things are made up of cells that perform functions necessary for life; that all life is interdependent and interacts with the environment; that plants and animals reproduce and transmit hereditary information between generations; and much, much more.
Fourth grade is a challenging, but big year. I aim to make it as fun and exciting as possible, as well as to pack it full of learning experiences. My goal is for the students to become independent, lifelong learners who work well in groups and explore the world with curiosity. I look forward to working with you and your child!!
